News from Mar 21, 2017
In “Measuring Statehood on a Sub-National Level: A Dialogue among Methods,” editors of the Working Paper Series Luisa Linke-Behrens, Angela Heucher, and Leon Schettler introduce five methods for measuring statehood on the sub-national level. The working paper consists of individual contributions by Eric Stollenwerk, Luisa Linke-Behrens, Angela Heucher and Leon Schettler, Lisa Pech, and Tim Glawion. Methods for measuring statehood that only include observations on the national level, the authors argue, are inadequate. With this in mind, they compare methods for measuring statehood on the sub-national level in terms of their concrete application, data collection and evaluation, advantages, and difficulties. This working paper provides a critical and innovative perspective on the current methodology of measuring statehood within governance research.
The working paper is available free of charge in printed form and as a PDF on our website.
