Biography
Jana Hönke is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Edinburgh. She is also an associate researcher with the SFB 700 “Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood” at Freie Universität Berlin. Together with Tanja Börzel she coordinates the D2 project Business and Governance in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Previously she has been a PostDoc and before that a junior research associate at the SFB Research Centre and thaught at the Otto-Suhr-Institut of FU Berlin. She has also been a visiting post-doctoral fellow at the Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS) and the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (ESAPI) at the University of Ottawa, a visiting scholar at the Centre of Criminology at Cape Town University and at the Sociology of Work Unit at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Jana studied African Studies, Political Science and Economics at the University of Leipzig and the Centre d'Étude d'Afrique Noir at the Institut d‘Études Politiques in Bordeaux and holds a doctoral degree in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin.
